NHL: Pittsburgh 4, N.Y. Rangers 3 (SO)

NEW YORK, March 1 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby scored the game-winning goal in a shootout Thursday night to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers.

Crosby squeezed a wrist shot through the pads of Henrik Lundqvist as the Penguins won for the second time in five games. Pittsburgh is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference as the battle for playoff spots heats up.

Colby Armstrong, Jordan Staal and Sergei Gonchar scored regulation goals for Pittsburgh.

Jaromir Jagr, Michael Nylander and Blair Betts produced goals for the Rangers, losers of four out of five.
