DALLAS, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Rookie Mike Smith recorded his third career shutout Saturday afternoon as the Dallas Stars beat the Anaheim Ducks, 1-0.
Smith stopped all 32 Anaheim shots, and got the only goal he needed when Jussi Jokinen scored on the power play with 4:13 remaining, to give the Stars their third win in five games.

The 24-year-old Smith has played far beyond what team officials expected. He would have been an unrestricted free agent if he had not signed a two-year, $1.9 million contract earlier this week.
Anaheim goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere was the tough-luck loser after allowing one goal on 21 shots for the defense-minded Ducks, who have dropped three of their last four games.
