Rivera mentioned for new Cowboys staff

IRVING, Texas, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Ron Rivera, the Chicago Bears defensive coordinator, is being mentioned in the same capacity for the new Dallas Cowboys staff.

Cowboys owner Jerry Johnson says no new head coach will be named until after the Super Bowl. Norv Turner, the San Francisco offensive coordinator, remains the leading candidate.

Rivera still has hopes of getting the top job in Dallas, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said, but would not rule out moving over in the same role he played with the Bears if the price is right.

Former Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who took the same position in Atlanta, made $1 million last season. Rivera likely would require a similar figure.
