NHL: Ottawa 5, Boston 2

OTTAWA, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfredsson got the go-ahead goal as the Ottawa Senators scored five goals in the final period in a 5-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.

Mike Comrie, Dany Heatley, Patrick Eaves and Peter Schaefer also scored for the Senators, who won for the seventh time in their last nine games. Ray Emery stopped 23 shots for Ottawa, which had lost all three previous meetings against the Bruins this season.

The Bruins suffered their fourth loss in their last five games.

The Bruins got back forward Phil Kessel less than a month after he underwent surgery to treat testicular cancer on Dec. 12.

Marco Sturm and Paul Mara scored for Boston, while Tim Thomas made 31 saves in a losing effort.
