NHL: Dallas 1, Nashville 0

DALLAS, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Jeff Halpern scored the game's only goal at 4:11 of the third period Wednesday night, as the Dallas Stars beat Nashville, 1-0.

Niklas Hagman and Patrik Stefan had assists, and rookie goalie Mike Smith made 17 saves for Dallas, which won for the fourth time in its last six games.

It was Smith's second shutout.

Tomas Vokoun made 25 saves for the Predators, who had won two straight coming into the contest. Halpern beat Vokoun when he picked up a rebound of Hagman's shot and put it into the net while Vokoun was still looking to see where the puck was.

Mike Modano played in his 1,200th NHL game -- all with the Stars franchise.
