NHL: Dallas 3, Los Angeles 2

DALLAS, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Jeff Halpern scored the game-winning goal with 3:44 remaining Saturday night as Dallas beat the Los Angeles Kings, 3-2.

Philippe Boucher and Stu Barnes also scored goals and rookie goalie Mike Smith stopped 32 shots for the Stars (9-2-0), who have won four of their last five games.

Dallas has 18 points and is second in the Pacific Division.

Rob Blake and Tom Kostopoulos each scored a goal, Matthew Barnaby assisted on both goals and goaltender Mathieu Garon yielded three goals on 28 shots for the Kings (3-8-2), who have only eight points and are fourth in the Pacific.

On the power play, Dallas went 0-for-7 and Los Angeles was 1-for-8.
