Federer advances to Madrid tennis finals

MADRID, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Roger Federer advanced to the finals of the Madrid Masters tennis tournament Saturday by besting David Nalbandian in straight sets.

The world's top-ranked men's player needed less than an hour to eliminate fourth-seeded Nalbandian, 6-4, 6-0, in Saturday's semi-final in Spain and win his 18th consecutive match.

Federer will take on Chile's Fernando Gonzalez in Sunday's finals. Gonzalez got past 15th-seeded Novak Djokovic, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 on Friday.
