MLB: LA Dodgers 4, San Francisco 2

SAN FRANSCISCO, Calif., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux gave up two runs and three hits in seven innings Saturday afternoon as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat San Francisco, 4-2.

J.D. Drew and Julio Lugo both hit one RBI double and one sacrifice fly; Drew had two hits; Jeff Kent had a run and two hits; while Kenny Lofton had two runs and three hits for the Dodgers (87-74), whose winning streak rose to six straight games.

Maddux (15-14) had no walks and four strikeouts.

Takashi Saito earned his 24th save.

With the win, the Dodgers remained tied with San Diego for first place in the NL West.

Lance Niekro hit a solo homer and drove in both runs; and Todd Linden had a run and two of the three hits for the Giants (76-84), who lost three straight and eight of their last 10 games.

Losing pitcher Matt Cain (13-12) surrendered four runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings.
