ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira had a three-run double as the Texas Rangers climbed out of the American League West cellar Thursday night with an 8-2 win over Seattle.
Michael Young had three hits, including a two-run double in the seventh, and finished with three RBI; Carlos Lee had two runs and three hits; Rod Barajas had two runs and two hits; Gary Matthews Jr. scored twice; and the Rangers (58-58) scored a run on a throwing error by Seattle shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt, to win their second straight after a four-game slide.
Winning pitcher Adam Eaton (2-2) surrendered two runs and four hits in six innings with two walks and two strikeouts.
Ben Broussard and Adam Jones hit solo home runs for the Mariners (56-58), who had only five hits.
Seattle had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Loser Joel Pineiro (7-10) gave up six runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings.
