MLB: Oakland 7, Texas 6

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Oakland took an unusual 7-6 game from Texas Tuesday -- Jason Kendall hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, but drew a batter interference call.

The Athletics won a sixth straight game to stay three games ahead of the Angels for first-place in the AL West.

Nick Swisher hit a three-run homer for the Athletics. Swisher and Jay Payton hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning.

Kirk Saarloos allowed three hits in four scoreless innings in relief of Shane Komine to pick up the win. Huston Street allowed two runs in the ninth, but got his 26th save.

Kevin Millwood gave up six hits and five runs over six innings, losing to Oakland for the first time in six career starts.

Michael Young and Mark DeRosa each hit two-run homers for the Rangers, who lost their fourth straight.
