GSTAAD, Switzerland, July 13 (UPI) -- Defending champion Gaston Gaudio of Argentina crushed Belgium's Christophe Rochus, 6-0, 6-4, in second-round play at the Swiss Open in Gstaad, Switzerland.

Second-seeded Gaudio, the 2004 French Open champion, dispatched Rochus in just 68 minutes of court time in a rain-delayed match. He will meet seventh-seeded Richard Gasquet of France, who took just 53 minutes to oust Czech Robin Vik, 6-1, 6-1, in a third-round match.

Eighth-seeded Max Mirnyi of Belarus lost to Romania's Andrei Pavel, 6-2, 6-4, in the only other match completed before rain halted Thursday's scheduled action. Pavel will play the winner of the postponed match between Dusan Vernic and Marin Cilic.

Rain washed out a second-round match between top-seed Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia and Swiss Marco Chiudinelli for a second day. Three second-round matches were rescheduled for Friday along with four quarterfinals.
