MLB: N.Y. Mets 7, Florida 6

NEW YORK, July 9 (UPI) -- David Wright's three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning was the difference Sunday afternoon as the New York Mets edged Florida, 7-6.

The blast -- Wright's 20th of the season -- was his only hit of the contest.

Paul Lo Duca had three hits and one RBI, Jose Valentin had two runs and one hit, and Xavier Nady hit a two-run shot -- his 12th homer of the season -- for the Mets (53-36), who have won three of their last five games.

In relief, the winner was Pedro Feliciano (2-2). Billy Wagner recorded his 18th save.

Miguel Olivo hit a solo homer; Mike Jacobs hit a two-run infield single; Hanley Ramirez had two runs, three hits and one RBI; and both Joe Borchard and Reggie Abercrombie had two hits for the Marlins (38-48), who closed the season's first half with four wins in their last seven games.

The loser was reliever Logan Kensing (1-2).
