NHL: Carolina 4, Buffalo 2

RALEIGH, N.C., June 1 (UPI) -- The Carolina Hurricanes scored three times in the third period Thursday night to beat Buffalo, 4-2, in Game Seven of the NHL's Eastern Conference Finals.

The goals were scored by Doug Weight, Rod Brind'Amour and Justin Williams, who also had two assists. Brind'Amour added one assist and Cam Ward made 22 saves for the Hurricanes, who won the series, 4-3.

The Hurricanes will be the host team for Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.

Jochen Hecht had one goal and one assist, Doug Janik scored the other goal, and Ryan Miller made 24 saves for the short-handed Sabres -- who already were without three defenders before a fourth, Jay McKee (leg), was injured in Game Six.
