MLB: Florida 6, Washington 5

WASHINGTON, May 4 (UPI) -- Hanley Ramirez delivered a pinch-hit run-scoring single in the ninth inning, boosting the Florida Marlins to a 6-5 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Ramirez sent a soft fly to left field in the final inning of Wednesday's game that allowed Dan Uggla, who had led off the ninth with a double, to score and hand the loss to Washington reliever Mike Stanton (1-3). The victory snapped a 5-game Marlin losing streak.

Florida reliever Ricky Nolasco picked up the win to improve to 2-1 after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning.

The Marlins got 2-run home runs from Reggie Abercrombie and Wes Helms in building a 5-0 lead through the third inning. The Nationals scored in four of their next five innings. Brian Schneider drove in three runs, including a solo home run in the seventh that tied the score at 5-5.
