NBA: New Jersey 97, Indiana 88

INDIANAPOLIS, April 29 (UPI) -- Vince Carter had 28 points, seven assists and six steals Saturday as the New Jersey Nets beat Indiana, 97-88, to even their Eastern quarterfinal series.

Richard Jefferson added 22 points for the Nets, who evened the series at 2-2. Nenad Krstic added another 21 points for New Jersey.

Jermaine O'Neal had 22 points and seven rebounds before fouling out for the Pacers, who have lost three straight Game Fours in the post-season. Austin Croshere came off the bench to score 15 points in the loss.

Game Five will be played Tuesday in New Jersey.

The Pacers played without forward Peja Stojakovic, who sat out with an injured right knee. The injury also forced Stojakovic to miss Game Two of the series, but he returned to score 10 points in Indiana's 107-95 win in Game Three.
