MLB: N.Y. Yankees 4, Tampa Bay 1

NEW YORK, April 27 (UPI) -- Hideki Matsui drove in two runs Thursday night to lead the New York Yankees over Tampa Bay, 4-1.

Derek Jeter had three hits, an RBI and a run scored, and Alex Rodriguez doubled and scored a run for the Yankees (11-9), who have won four of their last five games.

Winner Shawn Chacon (3-1) gave up one run and four hits in 6 1/3 innings with two walks and three strikeouts.

Joey Gathright went 2-for-4 and drove in the Devil Rays' only run in the fifth inning, when Tampa Bay took a 1-0 lead. Toby Hall also had two hits for the Devil Rays (9-13), who have dropped five of their last six games.

Loser Mark Hendrickson (1-1) surrendered three runs and only four hits in six innings with two walks and four strikeouts.
