MLB: Milwaukee 5, Pittsburgh 2

MILWAUKEE, April 3 (UPI) -- Jeff Cirillo had a two-run pinch-hit single in the seventh Monday to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Carlos Lee went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and J.J. Hardy added a solo homer for the Brewers.

Doug Davis, making the first Opening Day start of his career, pitched six innings and allowed just two runs on six hits. He also struck out six while walking four. Justin Lehr (1-0) earned the win in relief with a scoreless seventh inning.

Oliver Perez made his second straight Opening Day start for the Pirates. He went 5 1/3 innings, giving up only one run on three hits while striking out nine. Salomon Torres (0-1) suffered the loss in relief, charged with two runs and two walks.

Manager Jim Tracy made his debut with the Pirates after spending the previous five seasons as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
