NHL: Atlanta 3, Washington 2 (OT)

ATLANTA, March 4 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa scored 1:49 into overtime Saturday to give the Atlanta Thrashers a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals.

Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and an assist, Jaroslav Modry a goal and Marc Savard three assists for the Thrashers, who have won four of their last five games.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 30 shots for Atlanta, which has won two straight against Washington and is 4


2 against the Caps this season, with both the losses coming in shootouts.

Rookie Alexander Ovechkin had a goal and an assist and Brian Willsie scored for the Capitals, who have lost six of their last seven. Olaf Kolzig stopped 31 shots in the loss.
