NBA: Miami 100, Detroit 98

MIAMI, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Dwayne Wade scored his team's final 17 points Sunday as the Miami Heat beat Detroit, 100-98.

Wade finished with 37 points, four assists and eight rebounds; Shaquille O'Neal added 31 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots; and Gary Payton had 13 points, three rebounds and two assists for the Heat (31-20), who were a combined 0-7 against division leaders (Detroit, San Antonio, Dallas and Phoenix) before this victory.

Chauncey Billups had 29 points and 10 assists; Richard Hamilton added 25 points, four rebounds and five assists; and Rasheed Wallace added 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and three blocked shots for the Pistons (41-9), who, despite the loss, are 10 1/2 games ahead of Miami in the race for post-season playoff seeding.

Miami had a slight 37-36 edge in rebounding.
