Alex Steen scored twice; Alexander Khavanov and Alexei Ponikarovsky added goals; and both Kyle Wellwood and Mats Sundin had two assists for the Maple Leafs (24-22-3).

Toronto's longest losing streak was a 10-game skid during the 1966-67 season, which was the last season the Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup. It is the first time Toronto has dropped seven games in row since Jan. 3-20, 1997.

Starting goalie Ed Belfour was pulled after allowing four goals on 16 shots. Mikael Tellqvist replaced him and stopped 12 of the 15 shots he faced.
