NHL: N.Y. Rangers 6, N.Y. Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Martin Straka had two goals and two assists Wednesday night as the New York Rangers routed the New York Islanders, 6-2.

Jaromir Jagr added a goal and three assists, Michael Nylander also had a goal and three assists while goalie Henrik Lundqvist made 23 saves for the Rangers (22-12-4), who have won two of their last three following a three-game slide.

Mark Parrish and Trent Hunter scored goals, Janne Niinimaa, Shawn Bates, Brent Sopel and Jason Blake had assists while Rick DiPietro was peppered for six goals on 28 shots for the Islanders (17-17-2), who have lost three in a row.

The Rangers out-shot the Islanders, 28-25. The Rangers were 1-for-3 on the power play while the Islanders went 0-for-3.
