
ST. LOUIS, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Frank Gore rushed for two touchdowns Saturday as the San Francisco 49ers beat the St. Louis Rams, 24-20.
Maurice Hicks ran for 109 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, Alex Smith was 12-of-16 for 131 yards, and Gore, who scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the contest, added 68 yards on 10 attempts for San Francisco (3-12), which snapped a seven-game skid. Overall, the 49ers rushed for 217 yards while using a two-back combination.
San Francisco won in St. Louis for the first time since 1998.
Jamie Martin was 33-of-41 for a career-high 354 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, Torry Holt made 10 catches for a season-high 163 yards and a touchdown, Isaac Bruce added six receptions for 73 yards and Steven Jackson was limited to 28 yards on 16 carries and a score for St. Louis (5-10), which has lost four straight.
