Eagles head coach Andy Reid said McNabb's groin muscle was torn on the right side. He had been playing with the hernia all season but then suffered the groin injury in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys Nov. 14.

McNabb was put on the injured reserve list Nov. 22. Mike McMahon has been filing in the starting quarterback position.

McNabb completed 59.1 percent of his passes for 2,507 yards with 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season.
