NHL: Toronto 5, Atlanta 1

TORONTO, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Alexei Ponikarovsky had two goals and an assist Saturday to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Ed Belfour made 31 saves for Toronto, which has won four straight games. Bryan McCabe added a goal and two assists and Tomas Kaberle and Jason Allison each had two assists.

Ilya Kovalchuk scored the lone goal for Atlanta, which has lost two of its last three games. Michael Garnett replaced Adam Berkhoel in the second period and finished the game with 20 saves.

Toronto scored three first-period goals and led the entire game.
