MLB: N.Y. Yankees 8, Kansas City 7

NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Alex Rodriguez's two-out, RBI single capped a dramatic five-run ninth-inning rally Saturday afternoon as the Yankees beat Kansas City, 8-7.

In the winning rally, Derek Jeter, who scored three runs, also hit a two-run single, and Gary Sheffield and Tino Martinez added run-scoring hits.

Hideki Matsui had two hits, one RBI and scored a run.

In relief, winner Alan Embree rose to 2-5.

Mike Sweeney had two hits and three RBI, Terrence Long drove in two runs, and Paul Phillips, Angel Berroa and David DeJesus, who scored twice, all added two hits for Kansas City, which fell to 4-3 on the heels of a team record 19-game slide.

Losing pitcher Shawn Camp dropped to 1-3.
