MLB: Cleveland 6, Detroit 5

DETROIT, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Ronnie Belliard hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning Sunday as the Cleveland Indians topped Detroit, 6-5.

Casey Blake and Grady Sizemore also homered for the Indians, who have won eight of their last 10 games. Belliard now has 10 home runs and has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games and 16 of 19 overall.

In relief, winning pitcher David Riske improved to 3-3 and Bob Wickman registered his 31st save.

Craig Monroe and Brandon Inge each had two hits and one RBI for Detroit, which has lost three straight and eight of 10 overall.

Loser Fernando Rodney dropped to 1-2.

Detroit starter Jason Johnson allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings with no walks and five strikeouts.

Cleveland's Scott Elarton yielded five runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked four and struck out four.
