MLB: Texas 12, Toronto 10

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 9 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira had two home runs and six RBI Saturday as the Texas Rangers outlasted the Toronto Blue Jays in a 12-10 slugfest.

Alfonso Soriano and Kevin Mench powered a seven-run third inning with back-to-back home runs for the Rangers.

Kenny Rogers, making his first start in Arlington since his June 29 pre-game tirade, pitched seven innings for the victory.

Shea Hillenbrand and Frank Catalanotto each homered for the Blue Jays, who nearly came back from a nine-run ninth inning deficit.

Rogers (10-4) allowed three runs on eight hits. He struck out three and walked none. Blue Jays starter Scott Downs (0-1) was chased in the third inning in his first start for Toronto.
