WIMBLEDON, England, June 29 (UPI) -- Defending champion Roger Federer, 2004 runner-up Andy Roddick and former titlist Lleyton Hewitt were among Wednesday's quarterfinal winners at Wimbledon.
Former Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson also secured a berth in Friday's semifinals at the world's most prestigious tennis tournament.

The semis will pit Federer against Hewitt and Roddick vs. Johansson.
The top-seeded and world No. 1 Federer got past 21st-seeded Chilean slugger Fernando Gonzalez 7-5, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) on Court 1.
Federer broke Gonzalez' serve four times, did not commit a double fault in the match and tallied a mere 10 unforced errors in advancing. The Chilean managed only one service break against the mighty Swiss.
