CHICAGO, June 10 (UPI) -- Greg Maddux worked 6 2/3 innings Friday and hit a homer to help the Chicago Cubs crush Boston, 14-6.
It was the first meeting between the teams since the 1918 World Series and Chicago celebrated the occasion with a 20-hit effort.

The Cubs won for the 11th time in 14 games with Jeromy Burnitz hitting two homers. Maddux (5-3) gave up three runs on seven hits while posting his 310th win. He moved into a tie for 18th place on the all-time win list.
Bronson Arroyo (4-3) surrendered seven runs on 10 hits in four innings to take the loss.
