PARIS, May 29 (UPI) -- Men's top seed Roger Federer of Switzerland and women's World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport of America continued on the winning track Sunday at the French Open.

Federer, reigning U.S. Open and two-time Wimbledon champion, defeated men's former world No. 1 Carlos Moya 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 and women's top seed Davenport overcame a sluggish start to defeat Kim Clijsters, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3

Federer has only lost two matches all year (45-2), with one of them coming against Russian Marat Safin in the semifinals of the Australian Open back in January. He has six ATP titles already this season.

Up next for Federer will be 6-foot-6 Romanian Victor Hanescu, who beat 2004 French Open semifinalist Nalbandian 6-3, 4-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 16. Hanescu, 23, will appear in his first-ever Grand Slam quarterfinal.

Davenport, who improved to 32-4 overall this season, will appear in her first French Open quarterfinal in six years.

Davenport, 28, was January's Australian Open runner-up to fellow American Serena Williams.
