Twenty-player U.S. hockey team named

COLORADO SPRINGS, April 6 (UPI) -- Team USA in the 2005 world hockey championships will have a 20-player roster that includes four Olympians, it was announced Wednesday.

The 16-team competition will be played from April 30 to May 15 in Innsbruck and Vienna, Austria. The U.S. won the bronze medal last year.

Former Olympics players on the U.S. team are Doug Weight of the St. Louis Blues, Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars, Aaron Miller of the Los Angeles Kings and Mike York of the Edmonton Oilers.

Seven players return from last year's national team: Miller; Ty Conklin, Edmonton; Hal Gill, Boston; Andy Roach, St. Louis; Matt Cullen, Carolina; Jeff Halpern, Washington, and Richard Park, Minnesota Wild.

Others on the team are Rick DiPietro, New York Islanders; Tim Thomas, Providence Bruins; Jordan Leopold, Calgary; John-Michael Liles, Colorado; Paul Martin and Brian Gionta, New Jersey; Erik Cole; Mike Knuble, Philadelphia; David Legwand, Nashville, and Mark Parrish, New York Islanders.

The announcement was made by several USA Hockey officials in Colorado Springs.
