Oakland's Tim Hudson, was traded Thursday to the Atlanta Braves. That leaves Barry Zito as the last of the three of starting pitchers that helped the A's win the American League West in 2000, 2002 and 2003 and claim the AL wild card in 2001.

Mulder, a lefthander, was 17-8 with a 4.43 ERA and five complete games, including a shutout, in 33 starts last season. In 150 career major league starts, he is 81-42 with a 3.92 ERA.

Mulder was second to Roger Clemens in the AL Cy Young Award voting in 2001 after going 21-8 with a 3.45 ERA.
