Tejada named AL Player of Week

NEW YORK, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Baltimore Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada Monday ws named the American League's Player of the Week.

Tejada batted .483 with three home runs during seven games and led all AL hitters in runs batted in (11), slugging percentage (.862) and total bases (25). The 2004 All-Star also scored eight runs and compiled a .545 on-base percentage.

Tejada, who is hitting .314 with 32 home runs and a major-league best 142 RBI, became the third AL player to win the award twice this season, along with Cleveland's Victor Martinez and Minnesota's Johan Santana.

Tejada shared the honor with Boston's Kevin Millar for the period of July 19-25.
