Angel Berroa had five hits and scored five runs for the Royals, who pounded Yankee pitching for 18 hits.

John Buck hit a home run and Ken Karvey and Joe Randa each had three RBI for Kansas City.
Alex Rodriguez was 3-for-3 for the Yankees.
New York's lead over second-place Boston in the American League East is now three games.
