Mallon shares lead at Jamie Farr Classic

SYLVANIA, Ohio, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- U.S. Women's Open champion Meg Mallon shot a 2-under 69 Friday that gave her a share of the lead with Angela Jerman at the Jamie Farr Classic.

Mallon and Jerman were at 7-under 135 for 36 holes while Brandie Burton was alone in third at 136. Jerman is in her second year on the LPGA circuit.

Women's British Open winner Karen Stupples and Karrie Webb were at 137 while defending champion Se Ri Pak was sixth at 138.

Mallon's round was highlighted by a 60-yard sand wedge that found the hole for an eagle at the par-5 17th.

"If one shot can make your entire day then I guess 17 made my entire day today," Mallon said.
