Furyk shares Buick Open lead

GRAND BLANC, Mich., July 30 (UPI) -- Defending champion Jim Furyk jumped into a share of the lead at the Buick Open Friday while Tiger Woods was just two shots behind.

Furyk, who has bounced back from wrist surgery earlier this year, shot a 5-under 67 to get to 11-under 133.

That put him in a tie for the lead with Vijay Singh and Billy Andrade. Singh, the first-round leader, settled for a 70 on another day of low scores and Andrade had a 65.

Olin Browne, John Daly, Stewart Cink and Carlos Franco, a winner last week in Milwaukee, were all at 134.

Woods shot a 68 and was at 135.

"I'm right there," said Woods, a winner of this event two years ago. "If I can just play the way I've been playing, you never know. There are some good names, but no matter who is on the board, you're going to have to make a bunch of birdies."

Woods shared eighth place with Craig Barlow, Pat Bates and Bob Tway.
