While Ben Sheets and closer Dan Kolb were named to the National League All-Star team, it is Davis who has emerged as the Milwaukee workhorse. Making his team-leading 19th start of the season, Davis allowed just four hits and walked two.

Sammy Sosa and Corey Patterson each struck out twice against Davis.

Mike Adams pitched the ninth for the Brewers, who allowed just two runs in the series.

The Cubs were swept in a series of three or four games for the first time since Cincinnati won three games in September, 2002.

Milwaukee did all of its damage against All-Star Carlos Zambrano (9-4), who was tagged for four runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.
