NBA: Denver 95, Houston 94

DENVER, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Voshol Lenard made three clutch free throws with eight seconds left Friday night, giving Denver a 95-94 victory over Houston.

Rookie Carmelo Anthony scored 22 of his season-high 37 points in the third quarter to help rally the Nuggets.

Anthony had the best game of his young career, making 13 of 22 shots, including five of eight three-pointers, and six of 11 free throws. He did most of his damage in the third as the Nuggets came back from a 16-point deficit.

Steve Francis sank one of two from the line with 17 seconds to go to give Houston a 94-92 edge, but Rockets guard Cuttino Mobley inexplicably fouled Lenard on a three-point attempt.

Lenard -- a 79 percent free-throw shooter -- sank all three attempts to give the Nuggets their only lead of the game.
