NHL: St. Louis 6, Edmonton 4

EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Chris Osgood came on after Brent Johnson allowed three early goals and backstopped the St. Louis Blues to a 6-4 victory Tuesday over the Edmonton Oilers.

Jason Smith, Marty Reasoner and Mike York scored in the first 14:12 for Edmonton, forcing St. Louis to pull Johnson, who faced only six shots. Osgood made 17 saves and turned the tide.

Doug Weight got the Blues on the scoreboard with 4:03 left in the first period and Mike Danton made it 3-2 with his first goal of the season 83 seconds later.

Pavol Demitra tied it un the second and Jamal Mayers scored 15 seconds later to put St. Louis ahead.

Petr Cajanek added a power play goal with 1:47 left in the second period to make it 5-3.

The Oilers got within a goal with 8:38 left but Barret Jackman sealed the win with an empty-netter.
