Cleveland 100, Detroit 96 (xbn)

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- J. R Bremer scored 19 points in 22 minutes Tuesday to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 100-96 preseason triumph over the Detroit Pistons.

Bremer, a second-year guard whom Cleveland acquired in an offseason trade with the Boston Celtics, connected on 6-of-7 shots, including all three 3-pointers, and 4-of-5 free throws.

LeBron James, the highly touted top overall pick in June's NBA draft had eight points on 4-of-12 shooting, seven assists and three rebounds in 26 minutes.

Carlos Boozer added 15 points and 14 rebounds, Zyrdrunas Ilgauskas scored 12 points and Ricky Davis 11 for the Cavaliers, who led by as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter.

Ben Wallace contributed 13 points and nine rebounds and Richard Hamilton, Corliss Williamson and Tayshaun Prince 12 points apiece for the Pistons, who were playing their first game under Coach Larry Brown.
