Watson shares lead at U.S. Open

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill., June 12 (UPI) -- Fifty-three-year-old Tom Watson held a share of the lead in the U.S.Open going into Friday's second round at the Olympia Fields Country Club.

Watson and Brett Quigley shot 5-under-par 65s in the first round for a one-shot advantage over Justin Leonard and Jay Don Blake. Jim Furyk and Australia's Stephen Leaney were another shot back.

Defending champion Tiger Woods was among a large group at even par, five shots off the lead.
