Los Angeles 5; Phoenix 4 (OT)

PHOENIX, April 1 (UPI) -- Steve Kelly scored 1:42 into overtime Monday night as the Los Angeles Kings ended a seven-game winless slide with a 5-4 win over Phoenix.

The Coyotes have dropped a season-high six straight.

The Kings, winless since March 14, squandered three leads before Kelly netted his second goal of the season and first since Jan. 6.

After Phoenix missed a chance for the game-winner, Kelly beat goaltender Brian Boucher from the doorstep, ending the Kings' longest skid since Coach Andy Murray replaced Larry Robinson before the 1999-2000 season.

The Kings appeared in control when Ziggy Palffy scored his second goal of the game and Ian Laperriere tallied 99 seconds later to make it 4-2 midway through the third period, but Los Angeles rookie Cristobal Huet was beaten by Paul Ranheim and Mike Johnson in the final 5:19 of regulation.

Johnson also scored in the first period, and defenseman Paul Mara had the other goal for the Coyotes, who have been outscored, 26-9, during their skid.

Eric Belanger also tallied for Los Angeles, which scored as many as five goals for the first time in more than a month and just the third time since the All-Star break.
