Golden State 105; Seattle 99

OAKLAND, Calif., March 20 (UPI) -- Antawn Jamison collected 28 points and 12 rebounds, and Jason Richardson added 25 and 10 Wednesday night as Golden State posted a 105-99 win over Seattle.

Golden State had lost 14 straight meetings with Seattle and 14 in a row at KeyArena before Saturday's win. The Warriors ended a seven-game home slide in the series on Wednesday, beat the Sonics in Oakland for the first time since March 19, 1999.

The wins have been crucial to the playoff hopes of Golden State, which moved one-half game ahead of Seattle for 10th place in the Western Conference playoff race, and is 3 1/2 games behind eighth-place Phoenix and Houston, which both lost Wednesday.

"Every win is going to be huge for us down the stretch," said Golden State guard Bobby Sura. "We were watching the scoreboard. We got a chance and that's all you can ask for in the last month of the season."

"We're not looking at standings, we just wanted to come in and compete," said Seattle guard Brent Barry. "(The Warriors) are focused and playing some energized basketball."

The teams exchanged the lead 31 times before Rashard Lewis buried a short jumper to give the Sonics a 92-91 lead with 5:40 remaining. Golden State then scored 10 of the next 12 points as Seattle went nearly 5 1/2 minutes without a basket.

Richardson made a layup to give the Warriors the lead for good at 93-92 with 5:25 left, and made two free throws 21 seconds later. He buried a jumper and Sura made layup before Adonal Foyle capped the burst with a 15-foot jumper to give the Warriors a 101-94 cushion with 59 seconds to go.

Golden State shot 56 percent (9-of-16) in the fourth quarter while Seattle made just 7-of-18 shots. The Sonics made just 1-of-9 shots and committed three turnovers in the final 5 1/2 minutes.

Sura fell just short of a triple-double with 15 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds for Golden State, which won for just the third time in eight games.

"I just wanted to come out, be strong and make a contribution," Sura said. "I was feeling pretty confident about my game. A complete game for me is a lot of assists, a lot of rebounds, and just trying to make the team better."

The Warriors prevailed despite playing without leading rebounder Troy Murphy, who is sidelined with a bruised right knee.

Erick Dampier and Gilbert Arenas scored 11 points apiece as the Warriors scored 56 points in the paint, and shot 51 percent (43-of-84) from the floor.

Barry had 23 points and nine rebounds and Ray Allen added 23 and seven assists for the Sonics, who have lost five of eight.
