OTTAWA, Ontario, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Steve Martins scored a goal and set up another and Magnus Arvedson tallied twice Thursday night to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 9-3 romp over the San Jose Sharks.

With just two two-point efforts in 197 NHL games, Martins netted his first goal of the season and 15th of his career midway through the second period to give the Senators a 5-1 lead. The scrappy center also assisted on Martin Havlat's tally earlier in the session for his first multi-point game since March 19, 1999.

Arvedson scored at 4:20 of the second and capped a quick three-goal outburst at 8:07 of the third with his fifth of the season. Captain Daniel Alfredsson collected a career-high four assists while Marian Hossa pulled within one goal of the league lead with his 20th.

Ottawa rookie Martin Prusek stopped 30 shots to improve to 5

Patrick Marleau extended his goal-scoring streak to three games for San Jose, which fell to 4-2
