Minnesota 4, Cleveland 3

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Bobby Kielty's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night gave the Minnesota Twins their 90th win of the season, a 4-3 triumph over the Cleveland Indians.

Minnesota last won 90 games in 1992, a year after their last World Series title.

Kielty got his chance after the Indians intentionally walked Dustan Mohr and Cristian Guzman to load the bases with one out in the ninth. A.J. Pierzynski started the inning with a double off Dave Elder (0-2) and was replaced on the bases by Michael Ryan, who scored the winning run.

Kielty also had his third triple of the season and scored in the fifth as the Twins built a 3-1 lead early in the game.

Twins starter Eric Milton had his best start since returning from a knee injury at the beginning of September. The lefthander entered with an 0-2 record and a 14.53 ERA in three starts this month but looked ready for postseason play as he allowed one run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Cleveland's lone run off Milton came in the fourth, when Jim Thome hit a 3-2 pitch over the left field fence for his 48th home run. Eleven of Thome's homers have come against lefthanded pitching.

Ellis Burks tied the game for the Indians in the eighth with his 31st homer, a two-run shot off Kyle Lohse. J.C. Romero and LaTroy Hawkins (5-0) held down Cleveland after Burks' blast.

Indians starter Ricardo Rodriguez went six innings, allowing three runs.
