Chi. Cubs 3, Chi. White Sox 0

MESA, Ariz., March 17 (UPI) -- Jon Lieber continued his solid spring Sunday by allowing one hit over six innings and the Chicago Cubs did all of their scoring in the fifth for a 3-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Lieber gave up just a single to Paul Konerko and faced only two batters over the mininum while striking out five. He lowered his spring ERA to 1.80.

Pat Mahomes, Mark Watson and Scott Chiasson each pitched an inning to finish off the two-hitter, with Chiasson nailing down his second save.

Fred McGriff and Corey Patterson each had two hits and an RBI for the Cubs.

Konerko had both his for the White Sox. Mark Buehrle struggled in 4 2/3 innings, allowing all three runs and nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Battling back from another injury-plagued campaign, Antonio Osuna struck out four in 2 1/3 scoreless frames.
