Dirty bomb emergency kit available online

MOORESVILLE, N.C., Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Internet-based emergency preparedness company Nukepills.com announced the release of a dirty bomb emergency kit for U.S. civilians and first responders.

Nukepills.com said its dirty bomb emergency kit was developed for the safe and easy use by civilians and security personnel in the event of the dispersal of radiological elements from a terrorist attack.

The kit, which costs $250, is employed to detect radiation and decontaminate people and surfaces using a resin-based decontamination solution.

The kit includes the military-grade RADTriage detector to determine the level of radiation exposure in the event of a dirty bomb, nuclear reactor accident, nuclear weapon fallout and other sources of radiation, the company said.

Nukepills.com was founded in 1999 to supply Iosat, potassium Iodide, a thyroid-blocking agent that protects the body from absorbing radiation, to the general public.

In January, the company announced it sold 5.4 million doses of potassium iodide to the Kuwait Ministry of Health for roughly $1.4 million.
