SAIC selects Bulova Technologies

CLEARWATER, Fla., June 26 (UPI) -- Science Applications International Corp. has contracted Bulova Technologies Group to help develop environmentally friendly technologies for the U.S. Army.

U.S. company SAIC selected Bulova to support Army M118 and M119 vehicle booby trap simulators with the development of perchlorate free energetic mixes. Bulova says the perchlorate free energetic mixes research and development is part of an effort to reduce the amount of harmful materials that have a negative impact on the environment.

Officials say work on the contract, worth approximately $574,000, will be conducted at the Bulova's Ordnance Systems facility in Florida.

"We look forward to working with SAIC on this important and challenging project," Stephen Gurba, Bulova chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"By combining Bulova's ordnance simulator expertise with the expertise of SAIC in adopting environmentally compliant technologies into Defense Department requirements, we look forward to development of a new generation of ordnance simulators that fully train U.S. forces for combat while at the same time minimizing the impact of training on the environment."
