DARPA selects Pranalytica for Army project

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has contracted Pranalytica Inc. to support an Army Aviation and Missile Command Phase I project.

DARPA selected U.S. company Pranalytica to participate in the Army Aviation and Missile Command's Beam Combining of High-Power Quantum Cascade Laser Arrays project.

Officials said Pranalytica will provide beam-combining support for the project, designed to support Defense Department directional infrared countermeasures initiatives.

"Pranalytica is committed to providing breakthrough technologies and applications to enhance the capabilities and safety of our troops in today's dynamic and high-tech wartime environments," C. Kumar N. Patel, Pranalytica president and chief executive, said in a statement.

"Beam Combining of High-Power Quantum Cascade Laser Arrays is a step forward in protecting airborne assets from shoulder-fired missiles, detecting harmful elements in the field and creating a virtual picture of the combat area."
