Alion partners on emerging tech challenge

WASHINGTON, March 19 (UPI) -- U.S. company Alion Science and Technology announced it has become a partner with the American Security Challenge to help seek out emerging technology firms.

The American Security Challenge, hosted by the the National Security Initiative and presented in conjunction with the National Defense Industrial Association's 2009 Homeland Security S&T Stakeholders Conference East, is a competition designed to help identify and support new ideas and technologies aimed at U.S. national security.

Alion announced it will become an industry partner for the American Security Challenge to seek out innovators and emerging technology firms for potential contracting opportunities.

"We are excited about the potential of this partnership to broaden our understanding of the bleeding edge of the emerging security technology market," George Stone, Alion vice president for program management, said in a statement.

"We provide breakthrough solutions to our clients, and this is an excellent way to validate our current offerings and to find new solutions."

The American Security Challenge is scheduled to take place May 21 in Washington.
